About Ms. Emily Brooker, Piano Instructor:

Ms. Emily Brooker’s love of music began early in life when she started piano lessons in the third grade. It has remained an integral part of her life ever since.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN, Ms. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with an emphasis on Piano Performance. During her studies there, she was awarded the prestigious Steinway Piano Gallery of Excellence Award. Ms. Emily was invited to perform at Trevecca’s Music Department Accreditation Recital. She has also performed in the musical theatre orchestra and with smaller ensembles for recitals at Cumberland University in Cumberland, TN.

For nearly three years, Ms. Emily has taught piano to students five and older privately in unique settings:  in students' homes, within a daycare setting, and with the Mobile Music Academy in Nashville.

Her teaching philosophy includes mastery of fundaments through technical skill building in a joyful manner. She enjoys a wide range of music genres. In addition to the piano, she also plays guitar.

Ms. Emily served as Director of Volunteer Communications for Loop Events in Nashville Tennesse for over two years. Loop Events organizes volunteer teams for touring Christian music groups throughout the United States.  She also worked in the box office at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for five years.

The Piano Cottage is very excited and fortunate that Ms. Emily returned this year to her home town of Middleville Michigan where she began establishing her own private studio.   She  now joins the The Piano Cottage faculty teaching one day a week (Tuesdays) in Grand Rapids Boston Studio branch and will  but will be accepting students in the Middleville-Hastings area in coming months.

Emily credits three of her former instructors for their influence on her music career:  Mr. David Snyder, currently with King’s Academy, West Palm Beach, Fl, Dr. Paul Christianson, and Ms. Kelli Cox, with Trevecca Nazarene University.

In her spare time, Ms. Emily enjoys playing volleyball, outings to the beach, the race track and spending time with friends.
