Frequently asked questions
Do I need to purchase or rent an instrument to take lessons?
The Piano Cottage does not sell or rent instruments. Students are also responsible for purchasing: books, music, tools, cables, accessories.
Can I request a specific instructor?
Yes, you may email us at email@example.com to request a specific instructor's availability.
Where are you located?
The Piano Cottage is headquartered at 2010 Boston SE. We also have satellite locations in: Middlevile, East Grand Rapids, Walker, Northeast Grand Rapids and Rockford.
Why is it more expensive to have a teacher come to us?
Teachers have to accomodate for both time and travel expenses. Travel time takes away availability for other students. Note: In-home lessons are not available for all instruments.
Do I need to purchase an instrument before taking lessons?
A critical part of learning an instrument is practicing in between lessons. Students should have access to a practice instrument or there's little benefit in investing in lessons.
Do you offer adult lessons?
Absolutley! We have several adults who study music with us. Adults can learn music through our school and even get performance and recital oppourtunities.
How many lessons are included with my monthly tuition?
Each student is guaranteed 33 lessons between September and May. Holidays, makeup days, and longer and shorter months are factored in, so your tuition remains the same from month to month.
Are any of your students available to play at different venues, such as: church, school, restaurant?
Great, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with details, a contact name, potentail dates, address of the venue, and phone number. We will get back to you.
What is this "Piano Cottage Rocks" and how does my student get involved?
The Piano Cottage Rocks is an annual concert. Students of The Piano Cottage ages 8-18 audition to a panel of 3rd party judges. Sign-up for our mailing list to be the first to receive information.
How can I donate an instrument?
Although there are instances where we accept donations on site, The Piano Cottage prefers to connect donors with families directly to facilitate the exchange of the instrument.
