THE COTTAGE CHORUS
Kids Creating Harmony
The Cottage Chorus is now accepting new singers, both boys and girls ages 8-13.
The Cottage Chorus has been under the direction of Ms. Mary Skuza, since 2014. Ms. Mary also teaches voice and piano at The Piano Cottage studios.
What is the Cottage Chorus?
The Cottage Chorus is a co-ed chorus of young singers ages 8-13 who gather for rehearsals on Friday afternoons. Chorus members are introduced to solid vocal techniques, inspiring contemporary and classical choral selections.
The focus of this mixed chorus is to help each student develop their natural singing voice within a community of singers. Weekly rehearsals will incorporate singing games, movement, unison singing, rounds and two-part harmonies, all focused around a lively, age-appropriate repertoire .
Rehearsals are Friday afternoons from 4:15pm-5:15pm in the Beacon Hill Community Room. Consistent attendance is encouraged. Refunds are not given for missed rehearsals.
Rehearsals are at Beacon Hill Retirement complex, located 1919 Boston SE, across from our teaching studios at 2010 Boston SE. Normally they are in the Community Room in the main building. Use the front entrance. The Community Room is to the right of the main corridor.
The Cottage Chorus is a performance-oriented group. Participants gain valuable performance skills from harmonizing to choreography and everything in-between. The chorus has performed in a wide variety of settings, including: The SpeakEZ Restaurant, TPCR Concerts at Wealthy Street Theatre, DeVos Performance Hall, and The Frederick Meijer Gardens.
