 The Cottage Chorus

The Cottage Chorus is the choir program designed for students ages 8-13. The chorus is directed by Ms. Mary Skuza, a vocal instructor at the Piano Cottage. Founded in 2014, the Cottage Chorus provides a unique experience for aspiring singers that may not be ready to perform on their own, or they are seeking experience in harmonization and choreography. Students will study inspiring contemporary and classical choral arrangements as well as learn techniques to improve their vocal abilities.

The primary goal of this mixed chorus is to help each student develop their natural singing voice within a community of singers. Weekly rehearsals will incorporate an array of singing games, movement, unison singing, vocal rounds, and two-part harmonies. These activities are all focused around a lively, age-appropriate repertoire to build confidence, strength, and tone.

Rehearsals for the Cottage Chorus are on Friday afternoons from 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm. The Chorus typically meets in the Beacon Hill Community Room, which is across from the Piano Cottage's Boston Location. Consistent attendance is encouraged to push the group. Refunds are not given for missed rehearsals and there are no makeup rehearsals.

Rehearsals take place at the Beacon Hill Retirement complex, located at 1919 Boston SE, across from our Boston St. Studios.  Rehearsals are typically held within their Community Room located inside the main building. Specific meeting locations will be coordinated with Ms. Mary.

The Cottage Chorus is a performance-oriented group. Participants gain valuable performance skills such as harmonizing and choreography in front of a live audience.  The Cottage Chorus has performed in a wide variety of settings such as Wealthy Street Theatre, DeVos Performance Hall, The Frederick Meijer Gardens, and are a vital part of The Piano Cottage Rocks.
